Chapter 77

Within the Great Harmony of things
each is accorded its rightful due.
Things which exceed  their limit soon collapse.
While things too delicate to sustain themselves are nurtured.

Yet, it often happens in the
institutions of the arts that those who are
honored are given more attention than they need.
While those who are overlooked
Are ignored all the more.

Therefore the mastercraftsman dedicates himself
to his work without expectation of reward.
He does not gauge his worth by the honors conferred
on him and is not swayed by the expectations
of his audience.
